Karen Hayward

MHFA Course Facilitator

I am a passionate advocate for good mental health and work tirelessly to help people thrive.

I trained as a Mental Health First Aid Instructor with MHFA England to deliver the two-day Adult course and subsequently added the one-day Mental Health Champion, the half-day Mental Health Awareness and the new Refresher courses to my portfolio.

I bring a lot of my personal knowledge into the training and share my own, at times difficult, experiences of very poor mental health. I train with passion, conviction and professionalism and my desire to reduce the stigma so often associated with poor mental health shines through.

When I am not working, I practice what I preach and spend as much time as I can walking my dogs, getting some fresh air and exercise; the perfect chance to spend time doing what I love and looking after my own mental health too.

Course outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will be able to

*Recognise the symptoms of mental ill-health

*Provide initial help

*Guide the person towards appropriate professional help

*Be mindful of your own wellbeing

I look forward to meeting you!

Karen
